COLOR
Colored gel coat can be used for your deck, your hull or both. This means you can have a colored deck on a white hull, a colored hull with a white deck (perhaps with other graphics on the deck), or both the deck and hull in a color other than white.
Generally, darker colors mean your boat will be heavier. This is because a dark gel coat must be applied thicker to ensure a true color. Yellow boats are the heaviest… though many feel they are also the prettiest! In addition, dark colors attract and show scratches. So, we recommend that dark colors (like black, red or blue) be used over relatively small areas.
Available Colors
Maas now uses the Dura-kote Polyester Gel Coats, and their full palette of 40 colors is now available. They range from Cabernet and Royal Purple through several blues and reds to Primrose Yellow and Iridium Silver…. and Brilliant White! Think fun and be unique in your boat house.
Addition of colors costs $150.
GRAPHICS
Graphics are done with gel coat in the mold when the boat is built, and they are permanent and flush with the base color. They add color and make your boat distinctive without adding significant weight.
Centerline Pinstripe(s)
These extend from the bowball to the cockpit on the fore deck and from the end of the cockpit behind the stretcher to the stern on the aft deck. They are available on the Aero, 24 and Flyweight in any of the Maas colors. Double and triple pinstripes are possible.
Cost for the double stripe is $135, and the triple stripe is $200.
Cockpit Side with Double Pin on Fore Deck
Available only on the Aero, this graphic extends the color of the pinstripe along the side of the cockpit.
Cost is $165.
Cockpit Side with double pin on fore and aft decks
Available only on the Aero, this graphic extends the color from stem to stern without a break.
Cost is $225.
Cockpit Bevel with double pin on foredeck
Available only on the 24, this graphic extends the color of the pinstripe along a two inch wide bevel on the side of the cockpit.
Cost is $165.
Cockpit Bevel with double pin on fore and aft decks
Available only on the 24, this graphic extends the color of the pinstripe along a two inch wide bevel on the side of the cockpit and then the double pinstripe returns aft of the stretcher and continues to the stern.
Cost is $245.
Cockpit Stripe
Available on the Aero and 24, this is a subtle use of pinstriping to extend a line (or lines) from the bow along the centerline of the decks with a single line defining the top edge of the cockpit.
Cost is $165.
Steffy Stripe
Available on the Aero and 24 only, this is a double pinstripe from the bow to the peak of the cockpit at which point the pinstriping splits along both sides of the cockpit. At the aft end of the cockpit, each stripe continues straight toward the stern until it hits the edge of the deck. Another way to describe the Steffy Stripe is to think of it as the outline of the Shirwin Stripe… less bold but very dramatic!
Cost is $245.
Border Stripe
Available on the Aero and 24, this is a bold stripe along both borders of the deck from the bow to the stern.
Cost is $285.
Shirwin Stripe
Stripe color is in the cockpit then straight onto the deck toward the stern. Seat and footstretcher are usually the same color as the cockpit. Available on the Aero, 24 and Flyweight.
Cost is $225.
Insert Stripe
This is the reverse of the Shirwin Stripe, so the stripe color is only on the deck… mainly toward the bow. Available on the Aero, 24 and Flyweight.
Cost is $245.
Cockpit only
Stripe color is used only within the cockpit, including the seat and stretcher.
Cost is $275.
NOTE: We’ve purchased a pail of “Bubble Gum Pink” gel coat as a special order, and we have enough left over to build a few more boats with pink striping. Hurry if you want to add this unique color to your new boat.
